Actor Jack Lowden has revealed he wants to direct a movie starring his new wife Saoirse Ronan.
The Slow Horses star plans to move behind the camera and said he and Irish actress Ronan are excited about making a film together.
Lowden, 34, and the four-time Academy Award nominee met in 2018 when they co-starred in Mary Queen Of Scots and tied the knot in Edinburgh last month.
She played the title role while Lowden played Lord Darnley, the monarch’s husband.
They started dating in December 2018 and recently produced the Orkney-based drama The Outrun, which stars Ronan in the lead role, together.

Lowden lavished praise on his 30-year-old wife and described her as one of the best actors working in the film industry today.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said: ‘I definitely don’t need to give her any tips.
‘When we met working on Mary Queen of Scots and she was 23. Even at 23-years-old she was rocking every moment and was completely and utterly unphased by anything.
‘They are a rare breed, these young actors who are completely at ease and thrive.’
He added: ‘She is first and foremost one of the elite actors that’s working even given how young she still is.
‘It’s inevitable that if actors are together you will be drawn towards making something together. We have always fantasised about it.
‘The Outrun which we produced together was one of the great joys of my life.
‘Her and I definitely want to do more and we are going to do more. We are excited about how we do that in different ways.

‘I would love to direct her so it’s quite exciting to see what we do. The best directors of actors I have ever worked with have been actors.’
Their couple’s marriage certificate records that they were wed in the registration office at Edinburgh City Chambers on July 17.
The private affair included a handful of the couple’s friends, who kept the nuptials under wraps, along with family.
Lowden, who grew up in the Scottish Borders, studied acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
The couple have kept their relationship close to the vest over the years, even going as far as to deny they were dating.
In 2019, a reporter for The Telegraph asked the Little Women actress, ‘Am I allowed to ask if you’re going out with the person that everyone thinks you’re going out with?’
Ronan said, ‘No,’ putting an end to the discussion.
That same year, the Dunkirk actor refused to answer any questions about their relationship in an interview with ES Magazine.
‘Oh, I’m not going to talk about that. I don’t like talking about that side of life,’ he said.
Earlier this summer, the pair were spotted at the Glastonbury Music Festival in England.
The star shared a rare loved-up Instagram photo with his girlfriend.

It’s been a gradual rise to fame for Jack, who once dreamed of becoming a footballer and attended stage school in Edinburgh as a teen, before landing roles in Irn Bru adverts and local plays.
In 2019, he told the Evening Standard: ‘I wanted to be a footballer. It absolutely broke my heart when I realized I wasn’t going to be one.’
But after landing his big break in 2016’s War and Peace, he became a household name, appearing in Mary Queen Of Scots in 2018, where he met his future partner Saoirse.
More recently, he appeared with Gary Oldman in the Apple TV+ drama Slow Horses.
