Nick Knowles: 3.5st Weight Loss Transformation

Nick Knowles showed off his three and a half stone weight loss after admitting to putting on more than four stone during lockdown.

The DIY SOS host, 61, previously revealed that his weight crept up to more than 18 stone during the pandemic but he has been on a ‘strict diet’ to shed the pounds before his Strictly Come Dancing debut.

The presenter explained after quitting the gym, he enjoyed eating pies and staying inside which led to his ‘massive’ weight gain but he has recently been hitting the gym to get fit again.

The star is now on a low-carb diet and is putting in two hours of training a day ahead of the start of Strictly in September.

He showed off the results on Tuesday as he headed to the gym with his fiancée Katie Dadzie, 33.

Nick showed off his slimmer figure  as he donned a navy polo neck and trousers and held hands with his entrepreneur partner.

The TV host recently revealed that since hitting the gym for the dancing show, he has already lost seven kilos.

Nick previously expressed his desire to slim down for the dancing competition after a fan tweeted him: ‘Also got a book running with everyone on how much weight youll lose doing strictly…. Ive got a score on 3.5 stone…’

In response, the TV star revealed: ‘Well I’ve been in training in the gym and on a strict diet and have lost 7kilos already.’

While at the gym, Nick tweeted a clip of himself nearly falling off the treadmill as he joked: ‘Clowning around on the running machine during pre-Strictly fitness training and almost came a cropper.’

Nick seems to be enjoying his training regime and seems to be committed to getting in shape.

Speaking to The Mirror in 2021 he said: ‘I’ve made a living by looking like a bag of spanners on TV. I’m 18 stone, I’m massive.

‘I’m always on building sites. During lockdown I put on almost four stone. I’ve taken two stone off now and I’m getting fit again.’

The TV host recently revealed that since hitting the gym for the dancing show, he has already lost seven kilos as he trains twice a day in preparation for the competition

The TV personality explained how in the first UK lockdown, which started in March 2020, he stopped fitness training while he focused on writing.

He also joined the legions of people in making banana bread at home, as well as gorging on pies.

The stone weight loss adds to the 2.5 stone he lost earlier in the year when he shed his lockdown pounds.

He spoke out about his weight loss on This Morning in June, when Ben Shephard said he didn’t expect Nick to be so agile while rock climbing.

Laughing, Nick replied: ‘No, I am 61 and you will have noticed, the newspapers, they pointed out, I put on a lot of weight during lockdown.

‘I have lost about two and a half stone of it, I have got another stone to go.’

In November 2021, Nick was cruelly trolled as he donned a wetsuit for the DIY SOS Children In Need Special.

When asked if the comments affected him, he said in an interview on BBC’s Morning Live: ‘No because the thing is I put on a lot of weight during the first lockdown.

‘I couldn’t do any training, I was doing a lot of writing, a lot of banana bread and I grew a big beard and stayed in and I wrote a lot.

Nick Knowles has revealed he got stuck in the Grand Canyon while making his new TV show after putting on four stone during lockdown and was forced to confront his weight gain

Nick Knowles has revealed he got stuck in the Grand Canyon while making his new TV show after putting on four stone during lockdown and was forced to confront his weight gain

‘So when I came to do the shoot I thought “I’ll tidy myself up” and then actually no because so many people, not everybody, did the Joe Wicks thing, not everyone spends half their life in the gym.

‘Some people put on a lot of weight and I thought do you know what, first start of the show, let’s start with that straight away.’

Nick was also forced to confront his weight last year while taking part in a ‘seriously terrifying’ stunt for his show The Grand Canyon on Channel 5.

The presenter told Radio X how he got jammed in a crevice while caving and explained that much of the system around the caves is built for ‘skinny people’.

He said: ‘You have to go through ‘horizontal chimneys’ which are for real cavers, who are like whippets — they’re tiny, skinny people.

‘But my director was like, “Go through here, and there’s a cave on the other side which we can talk in.”

Nick recalled how he began to panic after he got wedged and was unable to move his shoulders.

He said: ‘But half way along, I was like, “I can’t do this, this is just too much”. I had palpitations, it was seriously terrifying.

‘There was a point where I was wedged, I couldn’t get my shoulders through and I was wedged. My heart started to go and I was, “Breath, breath, breath”.’

‘The caver said to me, “So how are you feeling about your life choices?” ‘
