Finneas proposes to Claudia Sulewski with huge diamond ring

Billie Eilish’s older brother Finneas excitedly announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Claudia Sulewski – after the pair first began dating seven years ago.

The 28-year-old music artist – who is known for collaborating with his Grammy-winning sister – jumped to his main Instagram page on Wednesday to share the happy news in a joint post. 

The couple began their romance when they met on the exclusive dating app Raya back in 2018. 

Finneas popped the big question earlier this week on Monday with Claudia penning in the caption: ‘forever and ever 9.22.’ 

In one image, the pair smiled towards the cameras as she took a quick a selfie. 

Claudia placed her left hand over her mouth to flash the eye-catching diamond engagement ring on her finger. The ring itself was made of a silver band with a large, rectangular-shaped diamond on top. 

Finneas and Claudia shared a sweet embrace and loving kiss as they stood on top of a hill with breathtaking scenery in the distance. 

The music producer proposed to his girlfriend at sunset which added to the romantic atmosphere. 

She donned a sleeveless, red dress as well as open-toed black shoes for the special moment, while Finneas was stylishly casual in an all-black ensemble. 

The proposal was caught on camera – with Finneas seen dropping down to one knee and pulling out a ring box from the pocket of his trousers. 

Claudia threw her hands to her face as he asked her marry him, and she could be seen nodding before kissing Finneas. 

The reel cut to the musician carrying his fiancée in his arms towards the camera to allow Claudia to show the ring. 

Following the proposal, the pair cozied up in front of an outdoor fireplace and she also gave followers a closer glimpse at the diamond sparkler. 

She snapped a photo as she held hands with Finneas as they enjoyed a helicopter ride. 

Social media users and celebrities jumped to the comment section to share their excitement over the proposal news. 

Actress Hailee Steinfeld wrote, ‘YAYYYAYAY!!!!!! Congratulations you 2!!!!’ while Dove Cameron added, ‘oh my heart.’ 

‘Congratulation,’ Addison Rae shared, and Gracie Abrams typed, ‘CONGRATULATIONS YOU GUYSSSSSSSSSSS.’ 

Model Kaia Gerber said, ‘oh my,’ followed by a heart-eyed emoji and Maddie Ziegler penned, ‘congratulations,’ with two red heart emojis. 

Julianna Hough commented, ‘Yesssssss – congratulations you two angels,’ while the Recording Academy added, ‘Congratulations! So beautiful.’ 

Back in 2020 on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast, Claudia reflected on coming across Finneas’ profile on the Raya dating app – but had already known of the Oscar winner due to her close pals. 

‘Two and a half years leading up to us meeting on Raya – I have a lot of friends that are in the music industry – and two of my best friends, specifically, had sessions with him.’

She added, ‘And both times, they both were like, “I just had a session with this guy. You guys would fall in love with each other. But it’s not worth it, because he’s always out of town.”‘

The media personality then saw Finneas’ profile on Raya in September 2018. 

‘Everything fell into place so perfectly and so quickly, because we already knew so many people in the same friend group.’ 

The following year, Finneas notably released a song titled Claudia – which he had written the first day they met. 

Later in 2019, the couple took a major step in their budding relationship when they purchased a house together in Los Angeles. 

Finneas and Claudia also collaborated on his 2022 track Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa – and she both directed and starred in the music video.

Late last year in November, the singer gave a little insight into his relationship with Claudia during an interview with Nylon. 

‘In addition to loving her as an individual person and liking her opinions and her jokes and her talents, [I love] the companionship and teamwork,’ he stated. 

When it comes to compatibility, Finneas stated it is ‘when something annoying happens – your dog gets sprayed by a skunk. 

‘Or it’s raining and there are leaks in your house – and you have a person there to suffer with a little bit, but that makes it much less bad.’

Over the years, the couple have made red carpet appearances together including the 2025 Grammy Awards and the Vanity Fair Oscars party last year. 

Claudia has also developed a close bond with Finneas’ sister Billie Eilish – and the pair have appeared on social media together as well as at glitzy events.
