With his Marvel days in the rearview, Chris Evans is no longer on a Captain America diet.
The actor, 43, admitted that his diet is ‘probably not as good’ as his dog Dodger’s while explaining how his furry friend keeps him active between roles.
‘If the film I’m working on requires a certain level of fitness, then the diet will reflect that, but otherwise, it’s junk food,’ Evans told ET.
But regardless of his diet, Evans and his dog both remain committed to fitness. ‘It’s a lot of love, and a lot of exercise. Dodger leads a very active lifestyle,’ he said.
‘He is a big part of the cardio. You know, he loves going on big hikes and rollerblading. Even though he’s 10 years old, he hasn’t lost a step!

‘I keep waiting for his battery to start to dwindle a bit, but our hikes are over an hour every day,’ added Evans.
Evans, who adopted Dodger from a shelter while filming his 2017 movie Gifted, said the dog has made his life ‘exponentially better.’
‘He is an incredibly special dog, and I don’t think it’s possible to stay in a bad mood when he’s around,’ he raved.
‘[Adopting him] was one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had. It was incredibly kismet. I knew right away the second I saw him that he was coming home with me.
‘Moving forward, I’ll only rescue dogs,’ added Evans. ‘That’s the new approach from now on.’
Evans previously shared a video of ‘the moment I met Dodger’ for a National Rescue Dog Day post in 2021.
‘I was filming a movie in Savannah and the scene took place at a shelter,’ he recounted.
‘I had no intention of rescuing a dog that day, but the minute I saw him I knew he was coming home w me,’ added Evans.
After adopting Dodger in 2017, Evans told People that he was ‘such a good dog.’

They aged him at about one, he acts like a puppy, he’s got the energy of a puppy, he’s just such a sweetheart, he’s such a good boy,’ said Evans. ‘He loves dogs, he loves kids, he’s full of love.’
In 2022, he told Buzzfeed Celeb that adopting Dodger was the ‘best decision,’ adding, ‘I always thought when I adopted a dog, or rescued a dog, it would be a little puppy.
‘Dodger was a full-grown dog. It wasn’t the story I had in my mind but it ended up being the best decision of my life.
‘I just think a lot of adult dogs and older dogs get overlooked, and that’s a shame,’ said Evans.
