Country music sensation Lauren Alaina has cancelled three shows in the wake of her father J.J. Suddeth’s sudden death.
On Wednesday the 29-year-old singer took to social media to share the heartbreaking news with her 1.2 million followers.
‘We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have the words yet,’ she wrote in white font against a black background.
‘I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte as I am going home to be with my family,’ she relayed in the post.
She did not explain the details of her dad’s passing, but ended the note, ‘Thank you for your prayers and understanding,’ signing off, ‘Pinky.’

Lauren previously praised her dad, who was a technician, for overcoming his addiction to alcohol.
In an October 2018 Facebook post she honored his five-year milestone without alcohol.
‘I am trying so hard to find the words to describe what today means to me. My daddy celebrates five years of sobriety today,’ she said.
The heartfelt note continued, ‘His bravery and will power in the last few years has been so inspiring. He hit rock bottom and built his way back up to the top.’
Addressing her parent directly, she wrote: ‘Dad- You are the best example of what it means to better yourself everyday. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you as my daddy. I love you so much. FIVE. YEARS. SOBER.’
J.J. was the inspiration for her song My Old Man, which she shared at her February 2024 wedding to Cam Arnold.
Lauren’s most recent social media nod to her dad was in June for Father’s Day.
Sharing photos from her recent wedding day, she gushed: ‘Happy Fathers Day to “my old man” with a heart the size of Texas!! I love you so much daddy and hope you have the best day fishin’.’
