Inside Out 2’s massive success at the box office continues, as the motion picture has taken in more than $1.25 billion worldwide, surpassing 2018’s Incredibles 2 to become Pixar’s highest-grossing film ever.
Incredibles 2, which arrived in theaters in June of 2018, made $1.24 billion after earning $608 million in domestic box office and $634 million in international revenue, according to Box Office Mojo.

As of Wednesday, Inside Out 2 has taken in $543 million in domestic revenue and $708 million in international earnings since it arrived in theaters June 14, according to Box Office Mojo.
The movie also achieved the feat of being the fastest animated movie to hit the $1 billion mark in worldwide revenues, The Walt Disney Company said June 30.
‘We’re absolutely thrilled to have reached this phenomenal milestone in record time, and it once again proves that global audiences will come out for a great movie,’ Tony Chambers, executive vice president of Theatrical Distribution, said in a statement.
Chambers said that ‘the film’s remarkable success is a testament not only to the incredible creativity of the Pixar team but an example of moviegoing at its very best.’
Inside Out 2 is also the first film to surpass $1 billion in box office revenue since the July 2023 blockbuster Barbie, according to People, and the 11th animated title to achieve the commercial feat.
The movie was directed by Kelsey Mann and features a supporting cast consisting of Ayo Edebiri, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Lilimar and Grace Lu.
The storyline of the movie is centered around the emotions of a 13-year-old girl named Riley (Tallman) who is dealing with a number of new emotions as she’s going though puberty and starting high school.
The emotions represented in the initial movie (Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust) are now accompanied by new emotions including Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui and Nostalgia.

The massive success of Inside Out 2 – which is the year’s highest-grossing movie to-date – is a spike for Pixar and Disney after a string of underperforming films such as 2022’s Lightyear, 2022’s Strange World and 2023’s Elemental.
The original film in the franchise, 2015’s Inside Out, made $858 million upon its June 2015 release.
It took in $356 million in domestic and $501 million in international revenues, according to Box Office Mojo.
