Peter Kay’s long-running tour has been affected by transport issues as the comedian issued a statement to fans on Wednesday.

The funnyman, 52, took to social media ahead of his gig, which takes place this Friday night at the AO Arena.

He is still travelling the country with his Better Late Than Never Again tour, which first kicked off in December 2022.

Doors for the Manchester show are due to open at 6:30pm, with Peter expected on stage at 8pm.

However, Peter warned fans there is planned industrial action which will affect two-thirds of bus services in the city.

Sharing a graphic of helpful information to his followers, Peter said: ‘Important travel info for those attending Peter Kay’s show in Manchester on Friday.’

Among the tips for ensuring fans get to the gig on time, Peter’s team advised them to allow extra time for travel and to check their bus service before setting off on their journeys.

Peter has not been able to sell out the AO Arena for this show, which holds 23,000, with tickets still on sale from £99.25.

He is due to perform in Liverpool on Saturday before taking a number of weeks off from touring.

Peter will resume the tour in Nottingham on October 5 and 6 before enjoying more downtime ahead of his next gig in Glasgow on the 22nd.

Meanwhile, the comedian was met with a backlash from fans after they were made to take down social media footage from his shows for copyright reasons.

Furious fans have also fumed over ‘wasting £150’ on tickets to watch his ‘recycled old material’, which they claimed wasn’t even funny.

One fan who attended his Newcastle show said he ‘didn’t laugh’ during the gig, before brutally claiming comedy ‘isn’t for you anymore Peter’.

He said in a video on TikTok: ‘Honest opinion, £150 for two tickets wasn’t worth it. You know what, he’s been better guys.

‘Tonight I didn’t laugh, I laughed about twice in the second half. Sorry Peter if your [sic] watching this mate, it’s not for you no more. That’s my honest opinion.’

In a second post, the fan revealed that his post ‘slating Peter’ was removed for ‘copyright reasons’, which sparked many fans to reveal they were also forced to take down their own footage of the show.

‘My video slating Peter Kay in Newcastle has been removed for copyright reasons here is a screen shot of the absolute waste of £150’, he wrote across a picture of Peter during the show.

Another gig-goer in the comments revealed a similar picture she posted on Instagram last year from his Manchester show was also removed for the same reasons.

‘I saw him in Manchester last year and posted a similar pic on IG. Six months later they removed it for copyright purposes. Massive PK fan but this tour just did not land at all. Very disappointed’, she wrote.
