Wendy Williams Ditches Wheelchair to Model Minidress at NYFW

Wendy Williams stepped out for New York Fashion Week amid her ongoing guardianship case and health battle.

She did not use her wheelchair, which she has been seen in recently.

On Sunday, the former talk show host, 61, was pictured posing Bach Mai at the designer’s Spring 2026 runway show and mingling with other fellow fashion enthusiasts in the front row.

During the fashion event, she wore a black minidress with a Gucci statement belt and Chanel combat boots as she showed off her glamorous style. She added a bright pop of color with a bold, red lip and styled her hair in loose beach waves.

Her outing was a rare occurrence as she is currently in the midst of battling for her freedom in a conservatorship case.

For over three years, Williams has been living under a guardianship that controls her finances and her health.

Back in May 2022, Williams was assigned a guardian after Wells Fargo froze her accounts, flagging concerns about financial exploitation and claiming she was of ‘unsound mind,’ per court documents.

The former daytime TV queen has been living at a luxury assisted-living facility in New York since being placed under the court-ordered guardianship.

In 2023, she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, but she insists she is not incapacitated.

Williams has since disputed her diagnosis and filed to terminate the guardianship under attorney Sabrina Morrissey, earlier this year.

On multiple occasions, she even likened the guardianship to imprisonment and was photographed holding up handwritten ‘help’ signs from her window.

Her ex-husband Kevin Hunter is also involved and filed a $250 million lawsuit — after WIlliams filed an affidavit earlier this year — with allegations that Williams is a victim of abuse and her guardian should be replaced.

This year, she underwent a new medical evaluation, which involved ‘a significant number of tests, both medical and neuropsychological, and scans including brain imaging,’ and the results came back recently — just prior to her NYFW appearance.

Results from her new medical evaluation — described as involving ‘a significant number of tests, both medical and neuropsychological, and scans including brain imaging’ — prompted doctors to issue an opinion regarding Williams’ neurological condition and diagnosis, according to legal documents obtained by People on Tuesday.

While the paperwork itself does not explicitly list her condition, sources claimed the exams confirmed Williams has frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia – and now she has issued a retort to the allegation.

In the following days, she declared that her attorneys were ‘highly upset’ about the recent coverage surrounding her present state of health.

In the new documents, an attorney representing Morrissey requested that the court extend the guardianship for an additional three months, setting a proposed end date of November 5.

The attorney also noted that ‘complications have arisen’ because various parties — including counsel for certain family members, Wendy’s ex-husband, and others — have indicated plans to challenge both the guardianship itself and Ms. Morrissey’s role as guardian.

Around the same time, an insider told Page Six that Williams has thought about going on a speaking tour to advocate for guardianship protections — and has no desire to return to her former job as a TV host.
