Emmie Silbery has been farewelled in a touching ceremony in Melbourne.

The beloved Gogglebox star, who appeared on the show alongside daughter Kerry and granddaughter Isabelle, died in July at age 96 following a battle with dementia.

Gogglebox star Matt Dalton shared an image from the memorial to Instagram on Monday with some moving words.

‘Honoured and thrilled to MC the Celebration of Life for ‘everyone’s TV Nan’ Emmie Milligan / Silbery,’ he began.

‘She lived an incredible 96 years, was an orphan, a nurse, as well as a mum, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother RIP Emmie.’

Also appearing to help celebrate Emmie’s life alongside Kerry and Isabelle were former cast members Wayne and Tom, as well as Simon and Adam.

Held overlooking the ocean at the Black Rock Yacht Club, the ceremony was also attended by Gogglebox stars Anastasia and Faye, Lee and Keith, and Kate, Molly and Millie.

It comes after Isabelle announced the sad news of Emmie’s passing to fans back in July and shared the reality star’s last words.

‘Our Emmie waited for me to come home for one last snuggle. Her last words: “I’m ready to hang up now,”‘ she wrote.

‘She was 96 – an orphan, a nurse, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, the oldest woman on TV, a great-grandmother, an author, and so much more. Thank you for loving her as much as we did and will forever. Have a big rest now – you deserve it.’

Several Gogglebox stars shared their tributes on the post, with Lainey Grech writing: ‘Oh, I’m so so sorry to hear. She was so beyond loved.’

‘Sending all my love to you all. Rest in peace, our beloved Emmie,’ Holly Dalton wrote.

‘Our hearts are so heavy with sadness,’ wrote Gogglebox co-stars Keith and Lee.

‘Emmie was our adopted grandmother to Keith and me, as we lost our grandparents years ago. You told us so many stories about your life, and now they are memories for us to keep. Rest in peace, sweetheart. You’ll never be far from our hearts.’

Gogglebox’s Matty Fahd wrote: ‘It was an honour to have met her. She was a truly special woman. May she rest in peace.’

Angie Kent said: ‘Beautiful Emmie. Words can’t describe what you meant to so many of us. Thank you for the countless laughs, tears, goosebumps and memories! Rest now. Your girls are so loved and looked after.’

Emmie left the show in 2022 after 14 seasons, following her dementia diagnosis.

The Silberys made the sad announcement Emmie would no longer be joining them on the Gogglebox couch due to her condition in 2023.

Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a range of progressive neurological disorders that impact memory, thinking and behaviour.

There are many types of dementia, of which Alzheimer’s disease is the most common.

There is no cure for dementia, although medical intervention can slow its progression.

The Silbery family appeared on the four-time Logie Award-winning series from 2016 to 2024, and during that time shared many personal stories.
