Faye Winter has revealed she turned down an opportunity to appear on a reality TV show because she had to prioritise her mental health last year.

The former Love Island star, 28, spoke about the severity of her ‘awful’ mental health following her bitter split from ex-boyfriend Teddy Soares, 28.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Faye admitted she had to ‘block out a lot of noise to get through the darkness’ – and also credited her dogs for ‘giving her a reason to get out of bed on her lowest days’.

Faye, who is a passionate campaign star for Guide Dogs UK, revealed her life completely flipped upside down after announcing her ‘heartbreaking and difficult’ separation in February 2023 with Teddy, after a year-and-a-half of dating.

And after a year of focusing on herself and happiness, the inspiring breast cancer awareness advocate, has now reflected on her crippling mental health journey.

She said: ‘Last year I had the option to do other bits [reality TV], but I I said it wasn’t the right time for me. I always think timing is so It is so important.

‘I needed to concentrate last year on myself. My well-being, my health and so I prioritised that, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

‘I’ll never look back and regret putting myself first, that’s something that I’m very proud of do. I could have gained more followers, but it just doesn’t bother me to do that or to be that side of things.’

She added: ‘I lost a lot of weight. I was in a really bad, awful place. We’ve all been there, but for me, I really had to block out the noise or I could have gone a different way.

‘I didn’t wanna post [on social media]. I didn’t really want people to know what was going on in my life. I really had to focus on me and by what makes me happy.

‘I needed to take a few steps back to then take multiple steps forward. You cannot see the light sometimes through the darkness, and it feels like it’s never gonna end. Time is a massive healer.’

She continued: ‘I have definitely found my happiness. I have definitely become a lot more independent cos there was a point that I wouldn’t even, like, leave my house by myself.

‘My dog is my reason and she has given me a reason on my lowest days. She is the love of my life at the moment. I’ve loved her when I’ve not wanted to love myself. And ultimately, that’s allowed me to then love myself and get out.’

She said: ‘I was shocked to a point because he spoke about it looking for sympathy and waiting for him to take his side and I I’ve tried to be very private about what happens especially towards the, you know, the end of our relationship.

‘Because it did hurt and I was embarrassed. I didn’t deserve that. You know, there was lots of things that happened.

‘I’ve never been one to hide away from the fact that I will check somebody’s phone if my gut is off. but also, there was parts of it that he’d missed out to try and make himself sound better. And that really hurt cos I very much tell the whole truth.

‘And then, you know, you can let people make a decision, but to tell half the truth to try and get sympathy, and then it’s backfired. It’s just a bit strange.

‘I hope he got what he wanted from it and I hope now that he’s thinks that he’s spoken about things in his light and on his terms that he can move forward and move on because that’s all I’ve tried to work towards doing.’
