Luisa Zissman Won’t Replace Kids’ iPads After Smashing Them, Criticizes Parents Allowing Social Media

Luisa Zissman has declared that she will never replaced her childrens’ iPads just weeks after revealing she had smashed them in front of her kids in a controversial post.

The mother of three, 38, was defiant in her decision as said her little ones are all the better for it but questioned how other parents could still allow their children to use  ‘mentally and emotionally damaging’ social media.

During the latest episode of her podcast Everything Luanna the former Apprentice contestant said she was ‘sick of preaching’ about online dangers and claimed the internet was the ‘f*****g demise of our society’.

‘Some children are still wetting the bed at seven years old, eight years old and yet you’re still allowing them on this technology it’s just wrong and I’ve got rid of it’.

She continued: ‘I’m sick of preaching, I’m not replacing them and I did a flight home without them and guess what it was fine. We’re flying to Dubai in October with the kids and I am not replacing their iPads ‘.

‘Every parent does what they want, but they’re children are little and they’re babies and they’re mentally and emotionally not able to process it. I’m telling you it’s the f*****g demise of our society’.

Luisa then went on to praise the Australian government’s recent announcement that they will include YouTube accounts in its ban on access to social media for those under the age of 16.

The decision will be controversial with many social media users, especially young people, and face resistance from the company. YouTube, owned by Google , has threatened to sue if it were included in the ban.

Luisa fumed: ‘There is so much research coming through, about how bad [social media ] is, and unnecessary,’

‘You have a whole nation of people riddled with anxiety and mental health problems that we didn’t used to see and i am sure its down to social media’.

Last month Luisa  fired up her followers when she revealed she had smashed her childrens’ iPads because they were making them ‘devils’.

She sparked debate as she explained she wants to focus on ‘sports and family’ rather than her kids racking up hours of screen time.

Luisa posted a picture of the broken device on her Instagram grid, as she candidly explained she had gotten so angry she’d cracked the screen.

Alongside the photos, she wrote: ‘I could pretend it’s all roses and sparkles but today the kids p***** me off so much I smashed their iPads up in front of them!

‘No more tech for us, it destroys their brains, creates little monsters and makes them  devils. More sports, more family time & more discipline loading!’

The post received a divided response with some arguing that breaking the expensive piece of technology – which currently retails from £329 – was a waste of money and she should have tried other forms of discipline first.

One critic explained: ‘This upsets me. People save so hard all year round to purchase these devices for their children. What’s to say in a few months time you will be purchasing them again. And it’s great, you can, you also work hard for your money, I don’t dispute that one bit.

‘However you won’t blink the an eye at the expense – maybe try using a bit more discipline and using the parental controls provided on the devices would have been a better and more economical approach.’

Another person queried: ‘That’s surely going to traumatise them?’, with Luisa defiantly responding: ‘That’s the point Rachel! Gentle parenting has exited this chat’.

One other suggested Luisa was going about things the wrong way because destroying their belongings will not teach them to respect them.

They said: ‘There are even charities that take old/unwanted tech to give to families in need! Destroying them does not teach them the lesson of respecting their things! They will end up being spoilt and ungrateful!

‘Also what kind of example is she setting by showing that much aggression and frustration.’

More people said: ‘Unfortunately I think it teaches them no value for money because they will now think it’s ok to smash up expensive things’ and ‘You want to teach them discipline by smashing their iPads up in front of them?’

While there was certainly many who thought it was a bad decision, others wholeheartedly supported Luisa’s choice – even saying they’d done the same.

One said: ‘Ziss, I done the same! Snapped it in half and put it in the bin! This household is not a democracy and I do not negotiate with children!’

Luisa replied: ‘THANK YOU! Someone sensible!’

Another follower said: ‘This is what I feel like doing and then I remember I’m poor and won’t be able to replace them when I need five minutes peace.’

Later reflecting on the response her post had got, Luisa said: ‘Wow so many triggered people and differing opinions on this post – actually didn’t expect the reaction.’

She also added a question box, which said: ‘Why do you care so much?’
