Matt Smith could be forgiven for wishing the Tardis could sweep him off to another time and place after starting work on his latest project in London.
The former Doctor Who star quite literally threw himself into his new role as a sex addicted door-to-door salesman in The Death Of Bunny Munro, a forthcoming Sky TV series based on Nick Cave’s 2009 novel of the same name.
Smith, 41, was dressed in character while shooting his first notable scenes on location, and he was seen looking out-or-sorts as he tumbled head-first through a wooden fence before collapsing on the pavement.
The actor was announced as leading man in the Sky’s TV adaptation of Cave’s novel in November.
Cave, 66, will serve as an executive producer in the six-part series, which is written by BAFTA Pete Jackson and directed by Isabella Eklöf.

The story follows self-professed lothario Bunny Munro and his young son called Bunny Junior as they make an increasingly out-of-control road trip across the south of England.
The two struggle to contain their grief in very different ways.
As Bunny bounces from one sales pitch to the next, trying to seduce any woman he meets, Bunny Junior tries to talk to the ghost of his mother and distract himself from the realisation his dad’s life is crumbling around him
As he starts to unravel, Bunny realises he must do something to rescue his son from his own outdated notions of what it is to be a man.
Smith, whose acting credits include The Crown, Doctor Who and House of The Dragon, said: ‘To work alongside Nick Cave on The Death of Bunny Munro feels like a great honour. It’s a brilliant exploration of love, grief, and chaos.
‘At its heart a deep, difficult, and tender story about a father and son, coping with loss and change.

The Death of Bunny Munro is produced by Clerkenwell Films, who are owned by BBC Studios, in association with Sky Studios.
The series will begin filming in Spring 2024 across the south of England, with the release date to confirmed at a future date.
It will be available on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK.
