Ben Cousins has sent pulses racing with a newly released photo, in which he stripped down to reveal his impressive six-pack abs.

The former West Coast Eagles star was challenged by Mix94.5’s Pete & Kymba to recreate one of his iconic shirtless photos from the early 2000s, and he did not disappoint.

In the striking black-and-white image, the 45-year-old could be seen lying on a luxurious faux-fur rug, dressed in dark jeans.

With a broad smile on his face, Cousins’ famous ‘Such is Life’ tattoo was prominently displayed across his abdomen, and his muscular arms were casually folded behind his head.

Cousins has been following an intense training regime as he gears up for his upcoming appearance on the Seven Network’s Dancing with the Stars.

The candid moment, captured during a radio segment, was shared on Instagram.

In the footage, the Brownlow medallist humorously admitted, ‘I don’t know how I got roped into this! It took days before I felt like I wasn’t slipping around in baby oil. At least I’m smiling. It’s not a bad shot.’ 

Radio host Kymba Cahill praised Cousins, saying, ‘You look happy, healthy and well – and a bit dreamy!’

The photo sparked a flurry of reactions from Perth listeners, who commented underneath the post on Instagram.

‘Still so humble. That is a great photo Ben! You should be nothing but proud, and we should be nothing but grateful,’ one fan wrote alongside a winking emoji.

A second described Ben’s shoot as ‘happy, healthy and a lot dreamy’.
