Lily Allen and David Harbour control the apps on each other’s phones.
The singer, 39, has revealed that she and her Stranger Things star husband have come to an unorthodox arrangement to cut down on the amount of time they spend scrolling on social media.
Lily told The Sunday Times: ‘I now have a kids’ phone called Pinwheel. It has no browsing capability and no social media, but you can still have Uber and Spotify.
‘My husband is the caregiver on it, so he controls what I’m allowed to have as an app on my phone. I’m the controller of his as well.’
The Smile hitmaker explained that she laments how smartphones have ‘destroyed’ humanity ‘as a species’ and says the devices have had a grievous impact on her creativity.
The mum of Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11, added that she has recently taken away her daughters’ smartphones after reading a book that claims children shouldn’t use them until they are 14.

She explained: ‘The creative side of my brain has been ruined by smartphones. I feel like everyone feels the same. I don’t know anyone who can possibly say that the quality of their life is improved by the presence of a smartphone.
‘I think it’s destroyed us as a species. It’s horrendous that they’re designed to be so addictive. Some of us have more addictive personalities than others. It’s evil.’
Lily is also frustrated by the way in which social media can be used to punish comments that have been made in the distant past.
The star said: ‘It’s unnatural. I don’t think, as human beings, that you’re meant to share ideas and for them to be set in stone. We are meant to evolve as people. How are you meant to do that if you’re always held to account by things that you’ve said in the past?
‘I said that 20 years ago, when I was completely different person, hadn’t been married, hadn’t had children. Of course I had a completely different outlook on life. Don’t hold me to that.’
Despite her claims about her new phone with limited features, Lily recently claimed that she wanted to be buried with her smartphone so that no-one would find her pornographic search history.
She made the very candid confession while speaking on the Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake podcast.

Speaking on the Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake podcast, Lily said: ‘My Google search history, my porn search history – Saturday night when the kids are at their dad’s, that porn trajectory’
She added: ‘It always starts quite unassuming… maybe a bit of shoplifting and security guard. That kind of thing. And then it gets kind of dark. We’ll leave it at that because I really don’t want anyone to know! Put it in my fancy coffin’

The Not Fair singer is planning to leave ‘everything’ to her children when she dies, including a secret engagement ring.
Lily revealed she had the secret jewellery made to replace the one her first husband Sam bought her when she had decided his diamond wasn’t big enough.
She said: ‘I’m just gonna have to give everything to my kids, split down the middle I think. When my first husband proposed to me, he gave me a very lovely diamond ring that, at the time, I didn’t feel was big enough.
‘And so I had an exact replica made of it with a bigger diamond, central diamond, and I never told him. So I’d wear it and he’d catch it sparkling and go ‘Didn’t I do well?’, it was like, ‘No, I did!’
