Julianne Hough said she’s been thinking about a major style change: shaving her head.
The Dancing with the Stars cohost, 37, appeared on the podcast Not Skinny But Not Fat on Tuesday, where she spoke about a number of style goals she has in mind.
‘I have this thing on my list of things I want to do,’ the Orem, Utah native told host Amanda Hirsch. ‘I want to go to Bhutan and shave my head with a monk.’
Hough said her initial plans have evolved, as she’s incorporated more elements of travel and spirituality.
‘It was just to shave my head, but now there’s two added layers: Bhutan and a monk,’ said the dance professional, who has more than five million followers on Instagram.
Hough, who has been seen in movies such as Rock of Ages, Dirty Grandpa and Footloose, said that she spoke with her hairstylist Riawna Capri – to try to map out a strategy for the bold style change.

‘I literally called my hairstylist Riawna and I was like, ‘I think we need to make a wig that is my exact haircut right now,’ Hough said. (Daily Mail has reached out to Capri for comment on Hough’s plans.)
Hough added: ‘I was like, “We need to replicate this as a wig so that I can just [shave it] and then know that I’m good for work.”‘
Hough said she has long desired to make the brash change to her appearance: ‘It’s weird – I’ve been wanting to do this my whole life.’
Hough said that shearing off her locks would mark a time of ‘excavation’ and change in her life.
‘I’ve been through a very big excavation process recently and I’m like, “Take it off,”‘ Hough said.
Hough said she was ‘clearing out the things that are’ extraneous as she continues to evolve in her life.
Hough said: ‘The last seven years have been – all the things I put into place, the systems of protection, of who you think you should be – all of them have gone away.
‘So I’m like, “Oh last thing, I just need to shave my head now!”‘

Hough referenced her former marriage to Brooks Laich, 42, as part of the excavation process.
Hough wed the NHL alum in 2017, but they separated in 2020, and their divorce was finalized in 2022.
‘I was very much in love and that was wonderful,’ Hough said. ‘And and then it was just, it was more – seasons of life that you go through and as you grow, do you grow together or do you grow apart?’
Hough also said that moving out of her home of 11 years ‘was sort of like the last thing’ in the excavation process.
‘It was like, all the internal stuff; the relationships; and then it was like the material things.’
