It’s open season between Britney Spears’ exes as tensions boil over.
On Friday, Kevin Federline fired back at Sam Asghari after Britney’s most recent ex took a swipe at him while discussing Federline’s upcoming memoir You Thought You Knew.
Sam didn’t hold back when asked about the project in August, sneering, ‘Well, he was a professional father so he would be a great… it would be the first book that’ll tell you how to be a professional father.’
The jab appeared to be a reference to the hefty child support payments Federline collected from the pop icon, who handed over custody of their two sons Sean, now 19, and Jayden, now 18, back in 2007.
Britney’s final $20,000 child support check was sent in November 2024, closing the book on nearly two decades of payments.
Federline — who also has four other children, two with ex-fiancée Shar Jackson and two with current wife Victoria Prince — brushed off Sam’s insult with a dig while out for a hike near the beach in his new Hawaii hometown.

‘Yeah, I’m not too worried about what Sam thinks,’ Kevin told TMZ pointedly.
‘But I do love the tagline professional father,’ he added.
With a laugh, he added, ‘Every father should strive to be a professional father.’
As for his tell-all, Federline teased, ‘I’m excited for people to read it, it’s been quite a process, but I can’t really say too much.’
And when it came to any wished for Britney herself, he kept it simple: ‘Just happy and healthy… you guys will definitely hear more on that later.’
Britney and Kevin were married from 2004 to 2007 before going their separate ways.
More than a decade later, the pop icon said ‘I do’ again, this time to model and actor Sam in June 2022.
But that marriage quickly unraveled — they split in August 2023 and their divorce was finalized the following May.

Sam has since moved on with real estate agent Brooke Irvine, making things Instagram official in December 2024.
Kevin, meanwhile, ignited controversy when he revealed plans to release a memoir this fall.
Many Britney fans blasted the project as a ‘cash grab,’ with critics pointing out the timing came just months after the singer’s final child support payment in November 2024.
Still, Kevin insists the book will pull back the curtain on their turbulent union.
In a press release, he promised the memoir would share ‘extremely intimate and transparent’ details about their ‘highly publicized marriage.’
‘I achieved my biggest dreams, dealt with crushing heartbreak and endured constant ridicule, all while becoming the father my children needed as they experienced non-stop emotional turbulence,’ the former backup dancer explained.
The backlash was swift, with one Reddit user scoffing, ‘That child support dried up real quick,’ while another piled on, ‘His timing tells you everything.’
Kevin appeared to fire back at the criticism last month, reposting a lengthy note of support from Hawaii media personality Ryan Kalei Tsuji.
Kevin announced his upcoming tell-all book, due out in October, in August
Sharing the cover of You Thought You Knew, Ryan defended Federline, writing, ‘I’ve watched Kevin stay silent while the world picked him apart. I’ve seen the toll it’s taken on him and his family as lies spread unchecked, all while he chose not to defend himself.’
He continued, ‘Instead, he poured his energy into being a father, showing up for his kids, giving them stability, and protecting their peace in the middle of chaos.’
Along with sons Sean, 19, and Jayden, 18, from his marriage to Britney, Kevin is also dad to daughter Kori, 23, and son Kaleb, 21, with ex Shar Jackson, and daughters Jordan, 14, and Peyton, 11, with wife Victoria Prince, whom he wed in 2013.
Ryan insisted the memoir isn’t an attack on Britney, writing, ‘This isn’t a tell-all meant to wound anyone. It’s Kevin finally allowing himself the chance to share his truth after years of being misrepresented.
‘He deserves that. His family deserves that.’
The message closed with, ‘Before you judge, before you assume you already know the story, I encourage you to read with an open mind. I’ve seen firsthand how love and sacrifice [have] provided the stability and normalcy his family deserves.’
Kevin echoed that sentiment in his own press release, noting, ‘The public unraveling of Britney’s life and the constant attention around their family forced Kevin to balance being a father with being a protector.’
The memoir will hit shelves nearly two years after Britney’s own blockbuster tell-all, The Woman in Me. Her book, which arrived on October 23, 2023, dominated headlines around the world, peeling back the curtain on her highly scrutinized life.

In its pages, Britney laid bare her turbulent romance with Justin Timberlake, the heartbreak of their split, and the shocking details of her 13-year conservatorship that left her stripped of basic freedoms.
The release was seen as a major moment, finally giving Britney her voice back after years of silence and reigniting conversations about how she was treated under her father’s control and the conservatorship.
Now, nearly two decades after their bitter divorce, Kevin is preparing to share his side of the story.
While Britney’s memoir was a reclamation of power, Kevin’s promises to be a counterpoint — a glimpse at what life was like on the other side of her fame.
And with both of Britney’s ex-husbands suddenly back in the spotlight — fans are bracing for even more drama from a pop culture saga that just won’t quit.
