90s Icon Inspires A-Listers Like Kylie Jenner and Maya Jama – Guess Who?

Kylie Jenner, Elsa Hosk, Dua Lipa and Maya Jama are among the A-lisers copying all a 90s catwalk icon.

From blinging bikinis to retro Versace prints and sheer dresses with giant corsage hairpieces, as well as vintage Chanel, it’s fair to say these looks have stood the test of time. 

But rather than be annoyed that her looks are being emulated, this supermodel is delighted that her fashion choices are providing such inspiration.  

She often praises the celebs on her social media – including Sabrina Carpenter and Kim Kardashian – for how they interpret her past looks.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner showed off her incredible figure in the same glamorous bikini Claudia Schiffer wore more than 30 years ago. 

The beauty mogul, 27, forked out a whopping £10,000 for the gem-encrusted two piece from Chanel which the German model, 54, strutted in on the runway in 1995. 

Just as it complemented Claudia all those years ago, Kylie looked stunning in the skimpy red bikini as she put on a busty display while laying on a sunbed for a post on Instagram.

Captioning the post, ‘No place i’d rather beeee’, the mother-of-two posed up a storm poolside in the lavish set, showing off her jaw-dropping physique while vacationing in Turks and Caicos. 

One captivating image featured Kylie straddling the sunbed as she cast a sultry look towards the camera. 

Another showed Kylie soaking in the sun laying on her side on the bed while displaying her sensational curves.

And in an Instagram post on Wednesday, Claudia revealed that she had first wowed in that very bikini for luxury brand Chanel all the way back in the mid-90s.

Sharing snaps of both her younger self and Kylie sporting the look, the 54-year-old model wrote: ‘@KylieJenner sparkling in this stunning bikini I wore on the @Chanel Official spring ’95 runway.’

Claudia shared snaps of her looking as glamorous as ever while sporting the look, displaying her toned abs and idyllic body while walking the runway.

With flowers in her hair, the model too shared a video of her catwalk which showed her gracefully strutting along the runway in a colourful gown before lowering to reveal the gem-encrusted bikini.

Maya Jama

Maya Jama made sure to return to Love Island in style on Monday as she slipped into a patterned pink vintage Versace swimsuit to head to the villa on a luxurious superyacht. 

Her look was a replica of Claudia’s Versace swimsuit and sarong that she modelled in 1992. 

The presenter, 30, looked sensational in the first look snaps as she kicks starts the show while relaxing on the front of the liner. 

Maya kept her dark locks out of her face in a coordinated headband and wore a pair of huge gold earrings. 

This year the fan-favourite presenter will be renting all of her outfits in a bid to be greener and more sustainable.

Speaking to the Mail ahead of presenting the show on Monday, she said: ‘I rent, I don’t buy my Island clothes. Today I’m wearing Versace vintage. All my outfits are going to be from the 90s.’

Elsa Hosk 

Elsa paid homage to Claudia in a a black bodycon gown by Mugler, from the fashion house’s Fall/Winter 1995-1996 collection at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The Swedish model, 36, arrived on the red carpet in the archival look, which Claudia wore in 1995.

Just like Claudia did in the nineties, Elsa teamed the glamorous look with pearl necklaces and voluminous hair with flower clips. 

Even Claudia was impressed by Elsa’s recreation of her look as she took to Instagram to praise the ‘beautiful’ model. 

Claudia wrote: ‘The archival looks at @festivaldecannes just keep coming! The beautiful @hoskelsa wearing a @muglerofficial gown I wore on the Fall/Winter 1995 runway.’

Elsa wrote in the comments: ‘You’re always the inspiration. Icon forever.’    

Ariana Greenblatt

Also channeling Claudia during Cannes Film Festival in May was Ariana Greenblatt.

The American actress, 17, wore wore an archival Karl Lagerfeld–era Chanel corset that Claudia debuted in 1993.

The chic look – which is exactly 15 years older than Ariana – paid homage to Claudia.

Impressed by her ensemble, Claudia penned on Instagram: ‘Love seeing this look have a second life! @Ariana_Greenblatt looking fabulous in the corset I wore on the @ChanelOfficial Spring ‘93 runway’

It’s appears Ariana is clearly a fan of Claudia’s iconic 90s looks as she channeled the supermodel once more at the premiere of her film Fear Street: Prom Queen.

She wore one of Claudia’s vintage Chanel dresses years after its debut. 

Sabrina Carpenter and Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway looked captivating in a green Versace gown in 2023 — which supermodel Claudia Schiffer debuted on the runway during Milan Fashion Week just days earlier — with matching silver accessories. 

The Devil Wears Prada star — who cut a stylish figure in a satin suit at the Versace Icons dinner the day before — donned a pair of chrome pointed-toe heels with bows. 

While the dress wasn’t one of Claudia’s archival looks from the nineties, it certainly went down a hit with Anne and Sabrina Carpenter after the both copied the look.

Sabrina rocked Claudia’s Versace look with an added twist as she took to the stage at her tour in 2024.

Claudia insisted Sabrina ‘wore it well’ after choosing to turn the dress into a mini version. 

‘Love to see this dress living so many lives!’, Claudia wrote on a photo of Carpenter as she shared a photo of the singer on her Instagram Stories.

‘@SabrinaCarpenter you wear it well’, she added. 

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa radiated the energy of a princess as she arrived at the 2023 Met Gala in Claudia’s vintage Chanel gown paired with a 225-carat diamond necklace. 

The New Rules singer, 27, was stunning in Chanel FW92 Couture, styled by Lorenzo Posocco – originally worn by Claudia in 1992.

Dua’s stunning tweed ballgown – designed by Karl Lagerfeld himself – was embellished with black and white detailing, and completed with tassels at the bottom. 

The tight bodice showcased her incredible figure, while the puffed-out skirt emphasised her tiny waist and added to the elegant look.
