’90s Comic’s Rare Outing Raises Concerns Over Haggard Appearance

Carrot Top has sparked fresh concern among fans after being spotted during a low-key trip to the grocery store in Las Vegas.

The 60-year-old comic, best known for his high-energy prop routines, appeared noticeably subdued at checkout, prompting renewed speculation about his health and well-being.

At one point, Carrot Top, who was born Scott Thompson, kept a hand pressed to his chest and looked deep in concentration as he paid for his items.

‘He went by himself, looked disheveled, he didn’t talk to anyone, and no one seemed to recognize him,’ a witness told the Daily Mail.

The star attempted to stay under the radar in a worn gray T-shirt and cutoff shorts, but his trademark unruly hair remained unmistakable.

Despite the chatter, a source told the Daily Mail Carrot Top has long denied cosmetic rumors.

‘Scott has denied using steroids and Botox for years,’ the insider said. ‘But he is 60 years old and we all eventually hit the wall.

‘He also didn’t ever think he was going to be photographed shopping, so he let his guard down – not in any makeup or anything.’

Carrot Top has kept a relatively low public profile of late, limiting appearances outside his long-running Las Vegas residency.

In a 2022 interview with Metal Life Magazine, he emphasized his clean lifestyle.

‘I’m completely sober. I don’t smoke marijuana and I never have. I don’t think I have been drunk since high school, literally,’ he told the outlet. ‘I have friends like Gene Simmons, he’s never had a drop of booze – zero. I’m not that pure. I definitely have a little Crown on the rocks right before a show.’

After a show, he says he comes home, watches some TV and has a ‘glass of red wine.’

‘I’m definitely not the drug guy. I’m actually more of a nerd than anything else,’ he insisted.

While there is no indication of a serious medical issue, fans on social media have expressed concern in recent months, urging the performer to rest if needed.

Carrot Top has not commented on the recent speculation and continues to perform nightly in Las Vegas, where he has held his residency for more than 18 years.

The Daily Mail has reached out to his representatives for comment and has yet to hear back.

His last major public appearance came in February 2024 during Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium, where he joined Jimmy Kimmel and Gordon Ramsay in a VIP suite.

Fans were stunned at the time by his dramatic pink-and-black hair, dark eyeliner and bohemian ensemble, a striking departure from his iconic bright-red curls of the ’90s.

Social media users compared his look to everyone from Johnny Depp to Steven Tyler, with one viewer quipping, ‘Carrot Top looks like the genie that would be freed when you rub a lava lamp.’

In a video shared after the game, he revealed it was his first Super Bowl and thanked Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney, for helping secure a seat.

‘I could see Taylor Swift but I wasn’t sitting in her box,’ he joked.

Carrot Top later told The New York Times he even struggled to find tickets like everyone else.

‘That’s what everyone says: ‘You’re Carrot Top! You own this town!’ But I really can’t get one,’ he said at the time while wearing a ‘Need Tickets’ sticker on his hat during the interview.
