Legendary television personality and entrepreneur Martha Stewart is sharing some personal and intimate details about her aversion to wearing underwear.
During an appearance at the Old Bags Luncheon in West Palm Springs, Florida this week, the lifestyle guru confessed she prefers to wear bathing suits under her clothes, instead of a bra and panties.
She went to to explain that it’s all about her love of swimming and dislike of any of the different types of undergarments, including Skims, although she did offer up a disclaimer in terms of Kim Kardashian’s company and creations.
‘I like bathing suits. I like wearing bathing suits under my clothes just in case I want to go swimming,’ she told Page Six at the event. ‘Bathing suits are my underwear.’
She added, ‘I don’t wear any of that structured stuff. No tight lace, no Skims for Martha. But I love Skims. I think they serve a very good purpose — but I don’t wear those. I only wear Aerie bathing suits under my clothes.’

After making the disclosure about Kim K’s wildly popular Skims and her preference to wear swimsuits as an undergarment, the homemaking goddess began to wonder whether she was a little too honest.
‘Is Kim Kardashian going to be mad at me?’ Stewart wondered out loud, but then she took a moment and decided her statement shouldn’t ruffle any of Ms. Kardashian’s feathers.
‘No, she won’t be mad at me,’ the Jersey City, New Jersey native explained ‘She knows I don’t wear Skims.’
Just last year, a then 81-year-old Stewart made the cover of Sports Illustrated dressed in a swimsuit, giving her the distinction of being the oldest model to be featured on the publication’s cover, according to the Martha Stewart website.
Stewart revealed that she was approached to do the photoshoot, which ultimately was done in the Dominican Republic, by Sports Illustrated in November 2022.
‘I love that picture,’ she told Today hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb when they showed the final covergirl shot of Stewart, photographed by Ruven Afanador, in a white swimsuit and gold wrap.
She went on to reveal that she had three months to get prepared for the shoot at the end of January 2023.
Stewart said she made the decision to pose in a swimsuit at her age, in part, to inspire other women, especially after the challenging previous couple of years, which was a reference to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Taking care of the family, working at home — it’s been tough. I hope [the cover] gives women an opportunity to revisit their lives,’ she said at the time. ‘Trying new things is very good. Being fearless is very good. Don’t be afraid of anything.’

The Old Bags Luncheon serves as the signature fundraiser for Family Services of Palm Beach County, according to the Center for Family Service of Palm Beach County, Inc.
This year’s Old Bags Luncheon was the milestone Silver Jubilee, marking its 25th annual event, as reported by the Old Bags Luncheon website.
The participation has gone from about 80 women and $20,000 for the charity selected in 1999, to a complete sellout of 600 people on guest list and several hundred thousand dollars for a local Florida charity in 2003.
In fact, two hundred women were turned away, and of course bought tickets early the next year at an increase in price.
The non-profit’s auction features stunning handbags, with proceeds from four of them benefiting the Center’s SAFE KIDS program.
